Amanda Clack FRICS was RICS President from June 2016 until November 2017, becoming the longest serving President in 123 years. She became the second woman to hold this post in the Institution’s 150 years.
From the moment she joined the profession as a Quantity Surveyor and having qualified in project management, Amanda Clack has been a passionate advocate for the role of surveyors. An engaged member of RICS, Amanda served as vice chair of the Management Board, led the Clack Review on Election and Selection and established the UK and Ireland World Regional Board. She has been an external examiner/lecturer and is a member of the Surveyors Livery Company.
As RICS President 2016-17, Amanda focused on infrastructure and cities. To support these themes, Amanda promoted diversity and inclusion to help attract, retain and develop talent in the profession. Amanda is a strong voice in support of the International Construction Measurement Standard, recognising early in its development, the Standard’s enormous potential for improving cost management and reducing investment risk. She chairs the RICS Construction Market Forum and was awarded the David Bucknall Award for an Outstanding Contribution to the Quantity Surveying Profession in 2018. Amanda was the Head Judge for our RICS Cities of Our Future competition for the UK & Ireland.
Since handing over the presidency, Amanda has continued to take a high profile in encouraging women to pursue a career in the built environment, recently co-authoring a book, the CEO Guide to Diversity and Inclusion in Real Estate which has been published in German and is being published in English.
As well as being a Fellow of the RICS, Amanda is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Association of Project Management, the Institute of Consulting, the Institute of Management and the Royal Society of Arts, she is a Certified Management Consultant, an Affiliate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales, plus is a Companion of the Institute of Management.

Amanda was given a Success in Business Award by Anglia Ruskin University in 2013, won two industry Awards: Women of the Year 2015, and the Women in the City Woman of Achievement Award 2015 for Construction and Engineering, plus was announced by the ICAEW as a Mover and Shaker of 2015 in the ICAEW’s Global Finance 50, as well as having been named in City A.M.‘s Power 100 Women list 2016.
Amanda was a member of the All Parliamentary Group for Excellence in the Built Environment (APGEBE) as part of a Commission of Inquiry into Skills, plus is also a member of the Infrastructure Efficiency Challenge Panel advising the Department for Transport on the deliverability of infrastructure. She was an Independent Expert on the Advisory Panel advising MHCLG on keeping people safe in buildings following the Grenfell Tower Fire.
