Right to Rent checks are to be streamlined as part of a new online service in development by the Home Office.

The Home Office would like feedback from landlords and agents to ensure the service meets their needs. The platform's goal is to make it easier for landlords and agents in the Private Rented Sector to carry out the checks as required by legislation introduced over two years ago.

The initial phase of development will apply to the checking of non-EEA nationals who hold biometric residence permits (BRP) or biometric residence cards (BRC) plus those granted status under the EU settlement scheme.

The Home Office is particularly keen to understand the experience of doing checks and any difficulties with navigating online systems.

Research will involve running through a prototype of the new online service and participants giving feedback on the service to assess its usability. This can be carried out at a landlord's or agent's own offices or at a Home Office site.

To get involved, please email or call Ella Botting on 07776808144.

Right to Rent checks are part of the Government's attempt to cut down on illegal migration by restricting access to services for those without a valid right to remain in the UK. Full details are available online at Check your Tenant's Right to Rent.
