Meet our speakers

  • As lead estimator for PCL Construction’s Renewable Energy and Agile Offsite Manufacturing divisions, Andrew oversees all budgeting, estimating, and risk management for both teams, while working closely with PCL’s Toronto district estimating team to support new work opportunities in the Greater Toronto Area. With more than eight years of estimating experience, Andrew’s leadership skills have secured him roles with increasing responsibility at PCL, most recently including design management for PCL’s offsite manufacturing projects, in addition to his current role. During his tenure at PCL, Andrew has proven to be very adaptable, quickly grasping concepts in new areas of the industry and cultivating specialized knowledge and skill sets through all avenues of design and estimating. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Leeds Metropolitan University, and recently completed his Gold Seal Estimating certification.

  • Arif is a Commercial Management professional with over 30 years of experience in the construction industries in Europe, Asia and the Americas.  He is a Board Member of RICS Canada and Board Member of CIArb Canada, and Editor of Construction Economist, a publication of the CIQS.

    Arif is the Founder & President of both Lakeland Consulting Inc. and Adjudico Inc. He is retained as a Fairness Monitor by multiple Provinces in Canada, and is retained to provide expert services to clients, which includes Legal Counsel and various other public and private entities across Canada.

    Arif’s passions include mentoring aspiring professionals and championing diversity and change, leading to organizational and professional excellence. Arif is the founder and driving force behind joint annual seminars that bring together professional bodies and professionals for the betterment of our profession.

  • Darren is the Regional Director, Eastern Canada for BTY Group, a global infrastructure and development consultant firm with offices in North America, Europe and the Middle East. He was born in Manchester, UK and studied Economics at Lancaster University and then went on to complete a Master's Degree in Construction Cost Management at the University of Reading. As BTY’s Regional Director, Darren leads BTY’s pursuit of services in both the private and public sectors and specialises in providing Cost Management, Risk Management and Project Monitoring services in sectors such as transit, aviation, healthcare, education, data and telecommunications and mixed-use.

  • Natalie Alexander is currently a PhD Candidate in the field of sustainability and the built environment, and a newly published author. Natalie has over a decade of experience in managing and directing construction projects, and her certifications and training include PQS, MRICS, and LEED-AP. Natalie holds a Master's in Construction Project Management.

  • Paul is the leader for Altus’s North American Infrastructure and dispute resolution business. He has worked internationally on over 100 PPP’s and has over 30 years experience. He has represented equity, DB Contractors, Operators and Public Agencies.

    Altus is currently working on over 30 active P3’s worth nearly $20 bn. Altus has worked across all asset sectors on projects in PPP including Power, Highways, Transit, Education, Healthcare, Social and Institutional buildings, Defense, Water and others up to $6BN in value.

    Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute or Arbitrators and has a Masters degree in project management from Reading 30+ Years of Industry University in the UK.

  • As manager of PCL Agile, Troy has ultimate accountability for the overall operation of the manufacturing facility and the day-to-day management of Agile. He is passionate about innovation and leading change that brings value to our clients. He fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement to enhance PCL’s service offering to our clients in regard to quality, safety, and speed to market.

    As a driver for value creation, PCL Agile brings together DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly), BIM, self-perform, and PCL’s purchasing power.

    Troy has more than 15 years of construction experience. He joined PCL’s industrial operations in Edmonton in 2006 where offsite solutions are paramount to the overall success of our projects, before being relocated to Toronto in 2014 to bring additional strength to the district’s offsite offerings. Troy’s journey has taken him through estimating, project coordination, project management, and business development primarily through the self-perform districts of PCL.

    Troy is a professional engineer, holds a degree in electrical engineering and a diploma in telecommunications engineering. He was the PCL Intracon district winner of the Robert Stollery Construction Leadership Award in 2011 and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
