A review of the different types of construction insurance and practical advice on maintaining construction insurance in the MENA region.

A review of construction insurance clauses and the terminology used in them to assist construction professionals to adequately cover risks on construction projects.

  • Learn about non-standard insurances to cover additional risks.
  • Understand the terminology used in insurance clauses and policies.
  • Review of exclusions, limitations on cover and deductibles.

Meet the speakers

Maria Deus is a Solicitor who has 17 years' experience in the areas of construction, infrastructure and dispute resolution. As well as working in private practice, Maria spent 6 years working in-house as Legal Counsel for a UK developer and for a multi-national project management and construction company. Maria has advised on contracts and disputes relating to various sectors including Commercial, High Rise Residential, Stadia, Educational, Hospitals, Airports and Oil and Gas. Maria is also a RICS Accredited Mediator listed on the RICS President's Panel of Dispute Resolvers MENA Branch. Maria has advised construction and engineering clients in the Gulf Region since 2013.

Mehdi Seadon is a commercial litigation lawyer based in Dubai since January 2018 working in DWF's Dispute Resolution team on international commercial arbitrations and construction disputes in the MENA region.
Previously, Mehdi spent 6 years in England & Wales acting for insurers and their insureds defending professional liability claims in the High Court and Technology & Construction Court in London, as well as bringing recovery actions against third parties where appropriate. This work also involved advising insurers on complex policy issues and acting in coverage disputes in respect of a wide range of insurance policies.
