Overview

Surveys are changing – the new RICS ‘Home Survey Standard’ will come into force in late 2019/early 2020. Survey technology innovation is rapidly altering, and safety is ever in the public’s eye, particularly after the Grenfell tragedy. This two-part series of the popular roadshows will provide guidance on the new Standards. It will ensure that practising surveyors preparing reports under the new regime can plot their path through the altered legal landscape that will affect all types of survey products and will govern the legal liabilities of Chartered Surveyors in the future. Many of the sessions will include new case studies.

Seminar 1 - The new HSS, new technologies and current methodologies – what you need to know
This seminar covers the new RICS Home Survey Standard. Describing the outcomes of the recent consultation exercise. It will outline the planned timetable of this important initiative as well as the inevitable wider effect on general surveyor liability in relation to all other survey formats. New technologies will be addressed to identify how they can be used to support surveyors in making efficiency gains. Current methodologies will also be detailed to further support best practice for surveyors active in the residential property sector.

Seminar 2 - The HSS and the new survey landscape – putting it into practice
Seminar 2 addresses how the new Home Survey Standard will work in your day-to-day practice. With several interactive sessions, case studies and discussions, this seminar is the perfect follow-on from the first. Ask questions of our expert trainers and leave with techniques when providing clear advice to clients.

Here are a few comments from previous attendees:

"The Survey in Practice Roadshow was excellent and possibly the most informative two days CPD I have ever had."
Stephen Berg, Stephen Berg Associates

"I attended both of these recent events in Birmingham on Interiors and Exteriors, and just wanted to say how good I thought the event was, and especially pay credit to Larry Russen.  In my 15 years in the profession I can honestly say that he is the best speaker (in terms of his depth of knowledge, skilled delivery, and charisma) I have experienced at a CPD event, and is a real credit to the RICS."
Toby Ryder, Pinnacle Professional Services Ltd

"The roadshows are excellent, I have attended for the last two years in Cambridge and it makes a refreshing change to be able to complete all my formal CPD on days where all the subjects are relevant to me."
Mark Zimmermann, Landmark surveyors and Valuers Ltd
