Marc is recognised as one of the most experienced principal investors in Europe today. His 27-year track record in European investment spans 19 countries, covering equity, debt and a multitude of asset classes. Before founding Benson Elliot in 2005 Marc established Doughty Hanson Real Estate, where he directed one of Europe’s first – and to date most successful – private equity real estate funds.
Marc began his European career at Goldman Sachs, before which he was an executive with Chicago-based JMB Realty. Marc chairs the property advisory board at the Bank of England (the Commercial Property Forum) and is a Senior Fellow (Land Economy) at the University of Cambridge. Marc holds a BS in Economics from The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and an MBA from Kellogg (Northwestern University).
