Karen Horstmann has served as a Portfolio Manager for Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM)'s real estate division since 2011. NBIM manages $1.0 trillion of equity, fixed income and real estate assets on behalf of the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global as of YE 2018.
Ms. Horstmann secured NBIM's mandate to directly invest in US real estate. Over the course of the next six years, Karen worked to build the US investment team and grow the US urban portfolio, which comprises $22 billion of gross assets under management across 24m square feet.
Previously, Ms. Horstmann co-launched Meyer Bergman Capital Partners' first real estate private equity fund between 2006 and 2011. Karen began her career in 1999 with Goldman Sachs' Real Estate Principal Investment Area based in London. She earned her MBA from Harvard Business School and Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ms. Horstmann serves on the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) Board of Directors and Executive Committee as Treasurer, the New York Women Executives in Real Estate (WX) Scholarship Committee and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute.
