First Tier Tribunals: Actions and Case Studies

Examining and explaining applications and practical steps through the process

The First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber – Residential Property) is an independent part of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service, designed to provide a relatively informal means of dealing with disputes relating to leasehold property and the private rented sector.

Though the proceedings are semi-formal, it’s important to understand the Tribunal’s purpose and the processes that it follows as matters coming before the Tribunal can become complex and it’s important to be prepared.

This seminar will cover:

  • Purposes and operation of First Tier Tribunals
  • Applications under Section 27A
  • The'reasonableness’ of service charges
  • The appointment of a manager under Section 24
  • Examples and case studies
