The RICS Awards recognise outstanding achievement, teamwork, and companies in land, construction, real estate and infrastructure. They celebrate the achievements and successes of RICS professionals and their impact on communities.
In 2018, we presented 12 awards across individual, team and company categories at one of industry's biggest networking events of the year.
After a rigorous judging process, we are happy to announce the winners of the RICS Awards 2018 New Zealand.

Alan McMahon FRICS, National Director, Colliers International New Zealand
Recognising eminent commitment to RICS and the wider profession, the Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award for built environment professionals. It is awarded in rare, but compelling, circumstances to acknowledge an individual’s outstanding contribution to the development of the built environment profession, together with the individual’s commitment to RICS locally and globally.
"Over the last 31 years Alan has continually demonstrated his thorough professionalism, his talents, his knowledge, his research and forecasting, which is often accompanied with his wonderful dry sense of humour," said John Cameron FRICS, RICS Awards 2018 New Zealand judge. "In short, it is our view that he represents RICS' professional standards and delivery in the best possible way and has done so throughout his career, both during the formative years of the RICS and ever since."
The Commercial Agency of the Year award acknowledges companies, and consortia acquiring, selling, managing or leasing commercial propertiesduring 2017.
Celebrating the success of quantity surveyors, this award recognises companies, teams or consortia engaged in outstanding quantity surveying projects during 2017.
The Valuation Team of the Year recognises a company, team or consortia involved in valuation services which uphold international standards and give confidence to end-users for their objectivity, independence and reliability.
Celebrating the success of tenant advisors/representatives, this award recognises companies, teams or consortia engaged in outstanding advisory/representation services for occupier transactions during 2017.
The work of one company, team or consortia engaged in outstanding work in the building surveying profession is recognised with the Building Surveying Team of the Year award.
Winner: Babbage Consultants Ltd
Recognising property professionals engaged in industrial property acquisition,sales, management or leasing for industrial property, the Industrial Team of the Year award acknowledges the diversity and excellence of the New Zealand property market.
Winner: Bayleys Real Estate Ltd
Acknowledging teams, consultancies, academic institutions and agencies responsible for engaging in research projects associated with the built environment, the Research and Consultancy Team of the Year award recognises research excellence involving the residential and commercial property sector.
This award recognises projects that are new, exciting, cost-efficient and replicable; that are beyond the leading edge of standard facility management practices. The award is designed to foster creative thinking and innovative practices that will lead facility managers into the future.
Winner: Colliers International New Zealand
Awarded to a company, team or consortia responsible for outstanding facilities management, the award recognises the provision of services to end-users.
Winner: Bank of New Zealand
The future of our profession rests on the shoulders of emerging professionals. The Young Achiever of the Year Award acknowledges one outstanding individual who, having embarked upon the journey to professionalism through RICS, has achieved excellence in their chosen field. The individual selected will embody the highest standards of professionalism, be a role-model for their peers and be capable of making an outstanding contribution to the profession in the course of their future career.

The inaugural Women of the Built Environment Award recognises and promotes the positive contribution to our industry. RICS encourages female professionals from all disciplines of the industry to enter including: consultants, property services, real estate and property management professionals, both in the private and public sectors.
Winner: Courtney Doig, Colliers International New Zealand
